"How should I market online to build a following and capture clients?"
Back in May, I wrote an article called SEO Tactics versus SEO Strategies. In it, I described a fundamental problem with online marketing: There is SO much to do to get found online, it’s difficult to know where to start. How do you put together a comprehensive, yet highly focused and effective online marketing plan that generates results, without wasting your time or money? That is a conundrum. Many of us do a little here, and a little there, and poke at things without a full over-arching plan.
At the Search Engine Academy, we teach the technical “how to do it” in our SEO training classes. Students learn how to
- Do keyword research and the mechanics of search engine optimization (SEO)
- Set up and manage a pay per click (PPC) advertising campaign
- Effective business blogging
- Search engine optimized press releases
- Use social media to market to customers
- Etc.
All this is great stuff (in my opinion). The problem is that if you take the class, you’ll have all the step-by-steps down. Now how do you tie it all together with a ribbon and create a plan that captures people from lots of directions? How do you know what won’t work for you, so you don’t waste your time or money?
I decided to bring a new type of training into the mix that’s at a higher level. It’s a one-day internet marketing retreat that only a handful of people will participate in. It will be a small, intimate, VIP session with a few business owners being guided through our unique process to develop a plan for their individual business. Each person will work with us so that by the end of the day, you’ll walk out of the room with a comprehensive, step-by-step plan for the next 12 months on how to generate targeted traffic and how to capture new clients.
This is not for people who want to learn SEO or the actual online marketing tactics. If that’s what you’re looking for, one of our SEO classes is better suited for that.
It’s not for the faint of heart. This is a working workshop. Participants will be locked in a room (well, not really “locked”) and have the entire day to set up a complete marketing plan that is tailored to what THEY want to do to market online. This will be true VIP experience in downtown San Francisco in a high rise with a view of the city. Lunch is included, as well as all materials.
Participants just need to show up with an open mind and some ideas if they have them, but be ready to really work hard to pull it all together:
- Your ideal marketing audience
- Marketing ideas and thoughts for content
- A comprehensive matrix that is your blueprint week by week for the next 12 months
We only have 8 spaces available (actually 7 because someone’s already signed up). So I hope you’ll consider it and if interested, register before it fills up.
The upcoming dates for these Internet Marketing Retreats are:

P.S.: If you haven’t read it, here’s an article I wrote about a marketing plan for a church. http://blog.searchengineacademy.com/blog/local-search/creating-an-internet-marketing-plan-for-a-church/. This illustrates a good portion of what we’ll do in the retreat.
