There are tons of ways in SEO to increase website traffic. Today, let’s talk about four that can really pay off for you. We all need eyeballs to our sites. Without visitors looking at our web pages, we can’t expect to achieve our conversion goals, be they sales from products, marketing material downloads, completed contact forms, or even phone calls.
Here’s four that pay off particularly well, in my opinion, for SEO site ranking.
Improve Site SEO by Editing Metadata
What’s meta data, you ask? Well, not to be smart or anything, but it’s information about information. Put simpler for web pages, it’s two important pieces of information that give web searchers vital information about your site’s pages: the mighty meta title tag and the important meta description tag.
All web pages need a unique, optimized meta title and description tag that accurately describes the content on the web page it’s attached to. Not only that, but there are some restrictions on how to create these meta fields. The meta title is generally restricted to 55 characters or less due to Google’s font width in the search engine results pages (SERPs). Use your chosen keyword phrase in your meta title, since this element is considered in the algorithm for ranking purposes.
Your meta description tag can be up to 160 characters long; use your keyword phrase in this field as well. While the meta description tag is not considered for ranking purposes, it can be a vital success factor for increasing your click-through rate (CTR). The higher your CTR, the more visitors come to your site. Google pays attention to the CTR of each web page, and if they notice your pages getting more clicks, they’ll push it up higher in search results.

Blogging To Increase Website Traffic
Blogging is a critical part of your SEO strategy and content marketing plan. Find keyword phrases that would make great blog posts and link each post back to a relevant interior page on your site. Here are some great blog post topics:
- Writing a blog
- Women’s running shoes
- Basics of sailing
- Fly fishing gear
Each of these keyword phrases can be instructional or solve a problem. Suppose you’ve been successful monetizing your blog. Why not write about it with the keyword phrase above? Or perhaps you are an expert in women’s running shoes that reduce knee pain and injuries. That’s a great blog post readers will appreciate. I live in Annapolis, Maryland, “a drinking town with a sailing problem,” and many, many people would love to know basic sailing skills that I have. Fly fishing is a truly detailed sport and skill to master; any tips on the right gear depending upon skills levels would make a great read.
Links Back To Your Site To Increase Website Traffic
Create links from your blog posts back to your important interior web pages, but also be on the lookout for linking opportunities in appropriate business directories, complimentary businesses, and guest articles on other sites. Link building is challenging and is best done slowly.
Use Google Plus
I’ve had success with posting my blogs on selected Google Plus Communities in the appropriate sections. Search the G+ communities page and pick active communities with lots of members who contribute daily. You’ll get more SEO traffic coming to you, more people commenting on your posts in your streams, and possibly opportunities to attract prospects to your site.
Like I said, these are only four ways to increase site optimization and get more visitors. Which ones do you use that aren’t listed here? Let us know in the comments.
